Learn to Weave or Spin
Weaving
I learned to weave in college many decades ago and have been weaving ever since.
Weaving can be complicated and like most things, takes practice. I will guide you through the complexities of learning how to weave. You can learn on an 8 or 12 shaft floor loom. You can simply come and weave a towel or you can dive deep into learning everything you want to know about weaving.
As an artist who now weaves to sell, I started as a studio artist and shifted when my children were born. That shift took me to sewing, where I created home accessories as a side business.
Once my children began to leave the house, I went back to my love of weaving. I understand drafting, design, color and the exciting experience of seeing something I design come to life in front of my eyes,
My teaching process starts by getting a student on a loom to weave. If you don't like the act of weaving, you may not want to go further! It's that simple.
If you choose to move on, we will go step by step through the entire process, learning how to tie on to a loom, drafting, design, color interplay, tips and tricks and how to warp a loom.
Spinning
I learned the basics of spinning on a drop spindle in college but let that go to harness my love of weaving.
During the pandemic I stepped back into spinning. I now am proficient in drop spindles, supported spindles and wheel spinning. As a retailer for Majacraft, you will learn to spin on a beautifully engineered wheel that is not only wonderful to look at but easy to spin on.
Your first class is $75.00 and you will leave with a woven towel or a sample of yarn. Please use this Contact Form to reach out with questions and to set up a date.
